Space Girl: Finding Purpose and Meaning

Featured in the Jannotta Gallery at Smith College, this installation piece tells the story of both the challenges and triumphs, of Olivia’s entire college experience.

Beginning her college years abroad in Japan, amid a world-wide pandemic, required strength and flexibility. The limitations of access and opportunities in a foreign country, required a pivot in her academic career. Hoping to participate in a traditional college experience, she transferred from a Japanese university to Smith College. This journey led to inner growth surrounding purpose and meaning.

The challenges and inner turmoil during her four years of college were not in vain. She is now more resolved, both with who she is and her place amidst the universe. Space Girl demonstrates Olivia’s evolution of skills in digital art as well as animation together in one piece.

Animated in Toon Boom Harmony.
